Lesson 2 – Exploring your Moods

Transcript:

Right now you may have started this journey with abstinence and maybe you have not. If you have started out with abstinence, there will be a substantial dip in mood and a sense of well being at some point and this is due to the series of biological phases that are happening due to you not using drinking as the coping strategy that you have been relying on for so long.

Sometimes you don’t experience that drop in mood, but sometimes you do.

Sometimes, there is this initial withdrawal phase and once you get over it, there is an amazing period where everything seems great. Finally, you’re happy, everything is working well. This is an amazing time to focus on the tools that you’ll learn and use them!

But I want you to know that this phase doesn’t last forever, it’s just the reality and I want you to be aware of it and not be scared by it.

I want to let you know that experiencing those changes in mood or ups and downs is not an indication that your failing or you’re not doing what you should be doing or what you’re doing is not working, this period takes time, it can take months but this is the period that you’re going have to conquer to get to that other side, that new normal.

We’re going to be identifying the specific tools to deal with the ups and downs.

One of the important things to start is that you have to pick the right tools. We’re gonna be looking at tools to help with issues such as trauma, relationships, friendships, family, health, jobs and career, anxiety, depression, parenting, stress, confidence and more.

By now you should have identified some things that have caused negative beliefs and negative emotions and what relationships are unhealthy.

You more than likely have feelings and emotions that you have been running away from but I want you to start looking at the ways those feelings, thoughts, ideas have fit into your anxiety, stress, relationships, friendships, jobs, confidence and so forth.

In the next lesson, we’re going to look at the different tools for your journey.
