Lesson 1 – Your Experience Beliefs and Fears

Transcript:

The fact is, we all have beliefs, fears and different experiences. What you believe shapes how you look at the world.

We hold on to fears, beliefs and experiences and it actually holds us back.

What you now need to do is to think about and identify what do we really believe about ourselves, the world around us and the help you might have gotten before.

What do you believe about the world around you and what do you believe about the help you might have gotten before?

Did you receive help before and it didn’t work?

Do you have fears about the help you are expecting to receive that you believe won’t work?

Or are you afraid to be radically honest about who you are?

What are your internal challenges? Maybe you’re saying to yourself:

  • Can I do this?
  • Will I have to deal with this for the rest of my life?
  • I fear that I’m not helpable
  • Help will not last!
  • I’m afraid I’m beyond help! I’ve tried rehab and it didn’t work.

The reality is, you will need to call out these fears, beliefs, and experiences, confront them, accept them for what they are and then use the tools that you’ll learn in this program to radically transform your beliefs and remove your fears.

This is important because when opportunities for help presents itselves, your fear will start to raise it’s ugly head, with thoughts like, “there is no way I can do this, I have been here before and it did not work, why even try again?”

You have to work hard to not talk down to yourself, especially if you have tried to get help before. Because not only do you have negative thoughts telling you that you can’t, but also, you have experiences in the past where the help you had received, didn’t work for you.

We have to work on changing these beliefs! Change is possible for you. You can do this!
