As humans, inherently we gravitate to the negative perception deemed by society instead of the positives. To move forward, it’s important to change your perception whenever you fall into a pattern. Holding onto the negative perception will hinder the process of recovery since you have accepted that negative belief.
Instructions
Complete the worksheet below, write the negative perceptions about yourself or your drinking/using, and the corresponding positive perceptions that can mitigate the negative perceptions.
This exercise will help to counteract the negative perception you have and improve your ability to confront the problem internally. Once you employ the alternative perception, the process of change has officially begun. Repeating each mantra will develop a sense of self-affirmation.
